Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America has opened its new regional headquarters.
The three-story corporate office building for the New York-based national life insurance company has room for more than 1,800 employees.
Off Route 512 and Sterner’s Way in Hanover Township, Northampton County, the building serves as a consolidated location, moving employees from five other buildings to the new site.
The mutual life insurer, which has been in the area since 1984, has two locations near the new site, including an office at 81 Highland Ave. and another across the street at 3900 Burgess Place. Both offices are in Hanover Township, Northampton County. The company will vacate both offices and a third office site at 1605 N. Cedar Crest Blvd. in South Whitehall Township and move those employees and consolidate them into the new building.
Employees at Guardian offices at 1525 Valley Center Parkway and 1605 Valley Center Parkway, both in Hanover Township, will remain at those locations.
The first relocation wave began last month, with 1,400 employees moved in to the new office complex, said Ana Sandoval, spokeswoman for Guardian.
“This move will provide our employees, across all business lines, with a more efficient workspace to foster communication, collaboration and engagement with peers, customers and other business partners,” she said.
At 52 feet tall, the 281,680-square-foot building is designed to maximize the use of natural light.
Other features include a walking trail that circles the property, fitness center, town hall space, outdoor seating area and technology support center.
The company also adhered to the latest standards for energy efficiency, designing the building to be a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified building, with the interiors designated as LEED Silver.
