A-Treat now available nationally through online sales

Brian Pedersen//March 3, 2017

The soda brand, acquired by developer David Jaindl of Orefield in 2015, has launched nationwide shipping through online sales, said Luke Jaindl, general manager of A-Treat.

Consumers can buy the soda at A-Treat’s online store and choose from 10 flavors of 12-ounce cans in 12-packs priced at $23.99, Jaindl said.

The move expands the market for the brand, as it previously had been distributed along the East Coast, with the Greater Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia as the primary market.

Until recently, A-Treat had been produced and bottled at Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of the Lehigh Valley in Bethlehem. However, last month, Coca-Cola Co.-North America Group announced plans to end all soda production at its Bethlehem plant in May. The company said it would stop A-Treat production at the end of February.

A-Treat’s manufacturing and bottling have since been switched to another production and bottling facility. Luke Jaindl declined to disclose the location.

“We’ve had a seamless transition to a national group, a national brand,” he said.

For online sales, A-Treat soda will be shipped from Orefield to a regional fulfillment center in eastern Pennsylvania, which Jaindl also declined to name.

One of the main drivers for launching online sales was customer feedback from people outside the region who wanted A-Treat.

“In the recent past, we’ve been getting requests from Facebook and social media for us to set them up with our product that we can ship to them directly,” Jaindl said.

The company started looking at e-commerce platforms and selected Shopify, which he described as very efficient, with a lot of tools people can use internally.

Flavors available online are big blue, black cherry, cream soda, diet cream soda, ginger ale, grapefruit, orange, root beer, birch beer and sarsaparilla.

To celebrate the start of its online sales, the company is offering a contest for fans to take a photo with a can, bottle or case of their favorite A-Treat flavor at any national landmark, favorite vacation spot or anyplace in the country, Jaindl said. The winner will receive a year’s supply of A-Treat soda and an A-Treat prize pack. Finalists will receive an A-Treat prize pack.
