In her role as executive director, Abby Silfies leads a team of fundraising individuals to support the mission of the American Heart Association, in Lehigh, Berks, and Northampton Counties, She implements community impact strategies and support community education in CPR, blood pressure, prevention, and other pillars of the organization’s work. Silfies also works alongside grassroots volunteers, the area board of directors, and the organization’s business partners to best execute the work of the American Heart Association locally.

She has been in her current position for five years.

She believes her leader ship style is one of passion. “I publicly speak about the mission of the American Heart Association, while telling survivor stories, giving people relatable context, and making sure our name is recognizable and we are reachable by all. I feel my personality and ability to build relationships due to my passion for our work helps execute the goal to help people build and live longer healthier lives, each day,” Silfies said.

She said the organization’s Go Red for women campaign and luncheon this year was incredibly impactful. “We were able to share the stories of five duos that had been affected with heart disease. In a room of 250 people, there was not a dry eye and the impact was great. Such an educational, mission-heavy event that really drove home the importance of having a support network. I am incredibly proud and humbled by this event.”
