“2022 was a great year for downtown Reading in that Shuman Development Group took on the restoration of the two longest vacant properties in the downtown,” he said. “We spent the year working through the tedious process of securing approvals to restore the historic Elks Club, which had sat vacant since 1978. We also worked through all the structural engineering issues to restore the 12-story Art Deco Medical Arts building that had been mostly vacant since 1976. Both of these extremely difficult projects are now under construction and upon completion will be showpieces of the quality work done by Shuman Development Group and our local craftsmen.”
