Allentown’s newest Class-A office building officially opens its doors Thursday.
City Center Allentown, the real estate company behind much of the development in downtown Allentown, will host a ribbon-cutting event at 4:30 p.m. for Tower 6 at Sixth and Hamilton streets.
Built by Serfass Construction, the $45 million Tower 6 has 12 floors and includes tenants such as CrossAmerica Partners, NJR Energy Services, Avantor, Talen and Merrill Lynch occupying the 145,000-square-foot-building.
Less than 10,000 square feet is available as tenants, mainly comprised of financial, technology and investment firms, filled up the spaces.
The Neighborhood Improvement Zone proved to be a driving factor for the movement of companies from other parts of the valley seeking space in the building.
The NIZ features a tax incentive that allows for reduced rental rates on specific properties and has helped to fuel more than $1 billion in construction of new buildings and renovations of existing ones in Allentown’s downtown.
Construction on the project began in 2016.
Spillman Farmer Architects of Bethlehem designed the building, which features a steel and glass exterior.
