Berks Community Health Center expands services to include pediatric primary care

The Berks Community Health Center is expanding to offer pediatric primary care.  The nonprofit health center has four locations throughout Berks County that provide medical care, including primary care for adults, dental care, optometry, and now pediatrics, to patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Dr. Karen Wang will serve as director of pediatrics for the health center.  A graduate of Penn State University, she was honored with the Stephen R. Preblud Memorial Award for top pediatric academic performance in her graduating class at the Boston University School of Medicine.

Wang was previously a pediatrician at the Children’s Health Center of Reading Hospital.  Along with her role at BCHC, she will serve as school physician for the Reading School District for the coming school year (2019-20).

Erin Churico, certified pediatric nurse practitioner, also brings her services to the Health Center.

Most recently Churico served as a primary care provider at All About Children Pediatric Partners in West Reading.
