The Loomis Co., an insurance brokerage business headquartered in Wyomissing, informed the state Department of Labor & Industry on Nov. 9 that close to 300 employees will be losing their jobs at the end of the year.
In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing sent to the department, Loomis said approximately 298 workers at its facility at 850 N. Park Road would be affected. About 210 are within Pennsylvania and 88, working remotely, are within 24 other states.
The company will not close as a result of this action, the WARN notice said.
Job cuts, which are expected to be permanent, will begin Dec. 30 and continue through Jan. 6, 2023. The positions impacted were not released to the public.
Attempts to reach Loomis for comment were unsuccessful.
Founded in the 1950s, The Loomis Co. is one of the top 100 diversified insurance brokers in the U.S., according to its website. Its services include property and casualty, marine and aviation, employee benefits and personal insurance.
It also operates established satellite offices in LaGrangeville, New York, and Fort Lauderdale.
