Mr. Chris Cannon was selected following an extensive and thorough executive search process. He will begin his tenure at the Berks Arts Council on July 12.rnrnChris is an outstanding, dynamic arts professional whose educational background and experiences make him well-suited to articulate and execute the mission of the Berks Arts Council, stated Theodore Bassano, BAC board president. He is a well-rounded professional with amazing leadership abilities, integrity and a proven track record in initiating, presenting, and managing arts programs, events and services in a financially successful manner.rnrnMr. Cannon has worked for Universal Studios, Holland America Cruise Line, multiple regional theatres and on several tours in a variety of capacities including performing and production stage management. He served as the Managing Director for Silmarilli Center for the Performing Arts, a non-profit organization designed to motivate and inspire interest in the performing arts in Central Florida. Since 2006, he has been working with Walt Disney Entertainment, managing some of the largest venues and production stage shows in the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. rnrnI am very excited about the opportunity to serve an organization that is as progressive and community-oriented as the Berks Arts Council, said Mr. Cannon. I have been extremely impressed with the community leaders and organizers I have met, and am thrilled to join with this team as we move forward to a new era of promoting the arts in Berks County.rnrnMr. Cannon holds an MFA in Drama from the University of Virginia and a BA in Business Management from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL. rnrnThe Berks Arts Council presents the Berks Jazz Fest, the Bandshell Concert Series, Greater Reading Film Festival, the Pagoda Awards, the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Re-Grant Program, and provides art exhibition and marketing opportunities for member artists.
