A central Pennsylvania bank is expanding its footprint in Schuylkill County
Mid Penn Bank is seeking regulatory approval to open a new branch in Orwigsburg. The branch would be called Miners Bank, a division of Mid Penn Bank.
The company acquired Miners Bank in 2015.
“Since acquiring Miners Bank in 2015, we have enjoyed getting to know many of the communities within Schuylkill and Luzerne counties,” said Rory G. Ritrievi, president and CEO of Mid Penn Bank.
He said the expansion in Orwigsburg shows the bank’s commitment to growth in the region.
According to Brittany Zolko, director of corporate communications with Mid Penn, the bank has been in growth mode for several years.
“Since 2015, we’ve expanded from 14 branches to the 21 branches we currently operate in our six-county footprint. In 2016, we crossed over $1 billion in assets,” she said.
The bank submitted its application to the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. on Tuesday.
Upon receiving approvals and completing renovations, the office is expected to open as Miners Bank in June.
