Poole is president of Reading Hospitality Management, which includes the DoubleTree by Hilton in Reading and Catering by DoubleTree. A former American Hotel and Lodging Association General Manager of the Year, he also does consulting.
During the past year, “the biggest challenge was being able to keep staff employed while coming out of the pandemic,” Poole said. “Not only did we not have to reduce labor, but we created jobs by taking over a shuttered country club, an art museum and started an off-site catering company. While others were eliminating staff, we were growing ours; and we were able to increase revenue by 30%.”
