Construction workers demolishing the old Pinebrook Junior College on South Main Street in Coopersburg discovered a time capsule hidden on site since 1958.
The contents of the tomb will be revealed in a ceremony on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Coopersburg Borough Hall at 5 North Main St. Members of the Coopersburg Historical Society will supervise the opening and presentation of the contents, according to a news release.
After careful demolition, workers for Cityline Construction of Allentown unearthed the cement and marble encased time capsule.
The old Pinebrook Junior College, formerly the Sisters of the Sacred Heart Orphanage, has been vacant since 1992. Cityline Construction will build 23 upscale condos on the nearly 4 acre site designed by Portner and Hetke Architects of Emmaus.
The $3.5 million condo project, called Pinebrook Manor, should be completed by Cityline by late spring.
