Workers are demolishing a Perkins Restaurant & Bakery destroyed by a fire in 2014 on MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township last year to make way for a new business.
However, officials are silent on the name of the new tenant.
Whitehall Mayor Ed Hozza said the owner and developer at this time did not want to disclose the tenant.
According to minutes from a Jan. 12 township meeting, the township board of commissioners approved the land development plan for the property at 1450 MacArthur Road. The location is across from the Lehigh Valley Mall and on perhaps the busiest commercial corridor in the Lehigh Valley.
John Gross, an attorney from Gross McGinley LLP in Allentown, said he is representing the developer for the project but also said he is not able to disclose the name of the new tenant.
According to Lehigh County property assessment records, the owner is 1450 MacArthur Associates LP. The site is zoned for a restaurant use, with no liquor license.
A contact for the property, Kevin Kroiz, a representative from First Capital Realty in Plymouth Meeting, did not return several phone calls requesting comment.
Perkins was founded in 1958 and operates more than 400 restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada, according to the company’s website.
