After a late opening because of the COVID-19 shutdown, Dorney Park will also be closing down earlier than normal. In a statement on its website, the park said it will close for the season on Labor Day, Sept. 7.
While Labor Day is traditionally the end of the park’s main season, it usually continues operations on weekends with such attractions as the popular Halloween Haunts.
“Because of the ongoing uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, we have had to make some difficult decisions regarding the remainder of 2020,” the park management said in the message.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions, Wildwater Kingdom, Dorney’s waterpark, remains closed for the season.
The park was set to unveil a new waterpark attraction – a beach-themed multi-level interactive play structure called Seaside Splashworks. It will now debut in the 2021.
The main park opened July 8 with COVID-19 safety precautions in place. Guests needed to make reservations to help with crowd size control, take a health survey before entering and wear a mask throughout the park.
Because of this year’s limited season the park said all 2020 Season Passes and add-on products have been extended through the 2021 season.
