Electricity rates to rise for many Dec. 1

A large number of electricity customers will be seeing price increases around the state starting Dec. 1. 

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission said that supply prices for many utilities serving the state will be increasing. 

The generation/supply price can often be up to 40% to 60% of the customer’s total utility bill, but the actual impact on total bills will vary based on weather, the efficiency of your heating system, and individual usage.  

Among the utilities that will be increasing prices Dec. 1 is , which is raising the supply price from 12.49 cents to 12.953 cents /kWh, or 3.7%. 

‘s price will be increasing from 11.905 cents to 12.965 cents/kWh, an increase of 8.9%  

Customers of will actually see a decrease, lowering from 11.471 cents to 11.213 cents /kWh, a decrease of 2.25%  

For small business customers, the notes that most EDCs are also adjusting their price to compare on Dec. 1 in their small commercial rate classes. 

Small business customers in UGI’s service territory will see a drop of approximately 2.24%.
