First Lehigh County coronavirus case is Lehigh Valley Hospital-17th street employee

An employee of Lehigh Valley Hospital-17th Street in Allentown has tested positive for COVID-19, which is the first positive case in Lehigh County, according to the Lehigh Valley Health Network.

LVHN said that processes were followed and precautions were taken to help ensure the safety of colleagues and patients, including strict cleaning standards.

This is the same presumptive positive COVID-19 case reported March 15  by the City of Bethlehem Health Department. The LVH-17th Street employee who tested positive resides in Bethlehem.

The LVHN colleague experienced symptoms at work on March 3, 4 and 9, LVHN said. Patients and colleagues with whom the colleague contacted on these days have been informed and advised to self-quarantine. The colleague also is out of the hospital on self-quarantine at home. The colleague has not been at LVH-17th Street since March 9.
