Downsizing at a large corporation has led to opportunity for a growing law firm.
Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba said it is planning to move into Two City Center in downtown Allentown early next year, taking up 20,000 square feet of eighth-floor space left behind by BB&T.
“It’s a great building and because BB&T is consolidating their space, we had a great opportunity that was already fit out for our office to make a swift and smooth transition,” said Joseph Bubba, co-managing shareholder of Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba.
Bubba said the firm has not set a move date but could finalize it by January 2020.
In addition to the appeal of the space itself, Bubba also noted the appeal of downtown Allentown, particularly for younger professionals.
Housed for more than 30 years inside an old school building off Route 309 in Upper Saucon Township, the law firm has grown to 80 employees, including 13 paralegals and 36 attorneys.
Bubba is one of the owners of the Upper Saucon Township building, which sits on about two acres near Interstate 78 and Route 309 close to the Stabler Corporate Center.
“We love our space here,” he said. But, he added, the firm has been hiring and is running out of room.
Bubba was unsure what would replace the law firm in the former school house.
“Our priority has been finding space that allows us to grow,” he said. “Now that we are past that, we will look at the next steps; one of them is the use of this building going forward.”
FLB will lease the space from BB&T, which will maintain a presence in the building.
City Center Allentown owns the building.
