Flexicon Corp. of Bethlehem Township is expanding. The manufacturer of bulk handling equipment for the manufacturing industry has outgrown its current headquarters in Lehigh Valley Industrial Park VI and will move into a 50,000-plus-square-foot space about two doors down from the existing Emrick Boulevard space owned by developer J.G. Petrucci Co.
Petrucci is also the builder of Flexicon’s existing space. The new location will allow it to share a building with OraSure Technologies in a building that has more than 120,000 square feet.
Despites setbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic, David Boger, executive vice president of Flexicon, said demand for its products will quickly rebound and the company will resume the growth trajectory it was on before the crisis. And when it does, it will have the space to meet that anticipated growth.
“Our business has been growing rapidly, so we were pleased to find space that was a great fit for our needs almost right next door,” he said.
The new space has eight loading docks, one drive-in door, and will serve as additional assembly and warehouse space for Flexicon.
Boger expects the company need to hire more staff to meet that expectation.
