An attorney with Snyder & Wiles, Gladys Wiles manages the firm’s day-to-day operations, business plans, company policies and profitability. Her duties also include such tasks as hiring and training, assisting with reviews and promotions, managing clients, strategic planning to reach business development, and public relations goals. And, of course, the practice of law.
Most challenging are time, technology, cost control and work-life balance, she said. “Time – there’s never enough of it. At a small law practice, my role is to manage the firm and its employees, act as marketing director, advertiser and strategic analyst – and practice law. Technology – AI is and will become a significant factor that law firms will have to confront in the future and its impact on the practice of law. Cost control is always a factor, given inflation. Work-life balance is always a challenge.”
Wiles said the firm’s focus has been handling the legal complications resulting from the death of a loved one during probate, and the legal work involved when injuries are suffered by someone involved in a car accident. “We take pride in not only being the caretaker of the legal work for our clients, but in making sure that they have a complete understanding of every step of the process. We measure our success in hugs from our clients, and we get lots of them.”
