Demolition work is underway on an iconic downtown Allentown building.
Crocodile Rock, a closed music venue, had been host to many popular rock, rap and hip-hop concerts over the years. At one point, it was one of the top club-sized concert venues in the world.
The building, however, has been more or less closed for about three years.
Once the building is torn down, City Center Lehigh Valley plans to construct a new building on the site at 520 Hamilton St.
The new building will be a six-story mixed-use building designed after the former Allen Hotel that used to operate at Seventh and Hamilton.
The new building will have 68 one- and two-bedroom apartments. There will be retail and co-working space on the ground floor and several artists’ lofts in the back of the building.
