In three years as president of Alvernia University, John Loyack led a successful effort to restructure the institution; implemented a transformative five-year, student-centric, strategic plan; attracted the university’s three largest incoming student classes; and led the largest fundraising campaign in Alvernia history while leading the university to its first top national ranking. A highlight was creating a university CollegeTowne that has led the way in expanding Alvernia in center-city Reading and downtown Pottsville and Pittston. This … has resulted in new community programming, expanding experiential learning for students, and led to economic redevelopment and business creation resulting in the redevelopment of downtown Reading’s Penn Street corridor.
“Our strategy is based upon relationships and the partnerships that come from those relationships,” Loyack said. “The time needed to develop can test your ability to create life balance.”
