A bridge on Route 73 near Oley Valley High School, Berks County Park and area businesses is being replaced, starting next week, forcing traffic to one lane.
Kinsley Construction Inc. of York will begin work Monday on a $1.1 million replacement for a bridge over Furnace Creek between Clay Slate and Bertolet Mill roads.
“This new bridge will play an integral role for the Berks County network,” Gov. Tom Wolf said.
The project includes replacing the bridge, building new pavement bridge approaches, guide rail updates, new paint and signage and other miscellaneous construction, according to a the state Department of Transportation.
During construction, temporary traffic signals will be activated at the bridge to control an alternating single lane of traffic for the duration of construction.
Motorists are advised to expect delays. Work is expected to be completed by October
