They are in it for the short term and the long haul. They are financial executives, and 26 of them in the Greater Lehigh Valley were honored this morning at the third annual Lehigh Valley Business CFO of the Year Awards.
More than 300 people attended the breakfast awards ceremony and networking event at University Center at DeSales University, Center Valley. Created by Lehigh Valley Business, the event recognizes the financial executives at all levels who contribute to our region’s economic growth and stability.
“These financial executives made tough decisions that not only kept them profitable in the tough times, but decisions that have built a strong base for faster growth in coming out of the recession,” said emcee David Schankweiler, CEO of Journal Multimedia, parent company of Lehigh Valley Business.
“[They] have skillfully worked with their business associates to lead their companies, not only for the short term, for long-term viability and financial gain.”
Award-winners were named in six categories, while Paul Huck received the lifetime achievement award. Huck spent 33 years at Air Products and Chemicals before retiring as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
All of the nominees were recognized at the event, which featured Concannon Miller & Co. as its presenting sponsor and STC Services as its major sponsor.
The criteria for the awards were career achievements, impact of the nominee’s contributions and his or her leadership in other areas of management. The top nominees in each category were chosen as finalists, and one nominee from each category was selected this morning as the winner.
