Lehigh Valley Fleming Neuroscience Institute’s physician in chief received recognition from the American Neurological Association (ANA) for his dedication to education.
Dr. Steven Lewis received the ANA Award for Excellence in Education, which is awarded to one educator in the field of neuroscience annually for making contributions to the neurology profession not only through their own work but also through empowering their students to continue to grow the understanding of the brain and nervous system, Lehigh Valley Health Network said.
Lewis was presented the award at the 148th ANA annual meeting at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.
“Education is near and dear to my heart, and I am honored and humbled by this recognition by the ANA,” Lewis said. “Ensuring that current and future doctors and other healthcare professionals, wherever in the world they may be, receive top-notch world class education in the clinical neurosciences is paramount. My colleagues and I at Lehigh Valley Fleming Neuroscience Institute and Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) are also passionate about providing that education to better serve our patients and our community.”
In 2022, Lewis was elected Secretary-General of the World Federation of Neurology, becoming just the third American to serve in that position.
