Sandy Solmon

Organization
Sweet Street Desserts
Title
Founder and CEO

Sandy Solmon still owns and runs the dessert company she started in 1979 in a two-bay Reading garage, and she still runs its kitchen.

Sweet Street Desserts bakes for restaurants in more than 60 countries from its Reading headquarters, and Solmon serves as head of research and development, working alongside the recipe developers who build the line.

The company is a certified women-owned business.

In February 2025 it introduced Scoopables, a gluten-free, plant-based and dairy-free line built for healthcare and on-site foodservice.

“Desserts open doors, hearts, and conversations,” Solmon said in a company statement.

Of the work behind each recipe, she said in a previous LVB profile that the company challenges itself “to source authentic ingredients, from hand-selected South American chocolates to locally harvested crisp apples.”
