Lehigh Valley International Airport added its third direct flight in recent months with Tuesday’s announcement of nonstop service to Nashville International Airport in Tennessee.
Allegiant Air will start offering the flights from LVIA in May.
The Hanover Township, Lehigh County-based airport recently added direct routes to Chicago and Savannah/Hilton Head Island.
The direct Nashville service begins May 17, said Thomas Stoudt, executive director of Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.
With the addition of the new route, Allegiant will be serving seven cities from LVIA.
The Nashville service is the airport’s 13th nonstop destination overall, Stoudt said.
“Our work is never done and we are going to look for other routes,” he added.
The service to Nashville will run through November on Mondays and Fridays, he said.
“It lends itself well for the leisure traveler as well as the business traveler,” Stoudt said.
Nashville is an increasingly popular destination and people have been requesting it on LVIA’s social media platforms, according to Colin Riccobon, spokesman for the airport authority.
