The Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority is saying that heavy spring break travel and a mild winter helped boost passenger traffic at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) in March.

Last month, 78,550 passengers traveled through ABE. That’s the highest total for March since 2004 and is 7.3% higher than March 2022.

“Snow and ice only landed at ABE a few times, as Mother Nature delivered a gentle winter season. Demand for Spring Break getaways remained high during the month. Thank you to all the passengers from across the Lehigh Valley and surrounding region for choosing us,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, executive director of the LNAA.

American increased 44.4%, United jumped 27.7%, and Allegiant moved up 9.7%.  Delta passenger traffic declined 32% from last March.

“Air travelers should be preparing their summer vacation plans, with airline ticket prices rising and aircraft capacity levels continuing to be affected by the ongoing pilot shortage,” said Stoudt.
