Summer is always the busiest time of the year at Lehigh Valley International Airport and this summer was exceptionally so with a record-breaking summer travel season of 299,779 passengers using the airport between June and August.
“Since March, ABE hasn’t seen less than 85,000 passengers per month, and we’re appreciative that people across our region are choosing to Fly Local,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, executive director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.
In August, 97,179 passengers used ABE – a 0.75% increase from August 2024.
“Last month, United Airlines added their new midday flight to Chicago (O’Hare) and we’re excited to kickoff nonstop service to Fort Myers, Florida in November aboard Allegiant Air,” said Stoudt.
Of the airlines flying out of the airport United jumped 8.5%, Delta was up 5% and Allegiant increased 3.4%. Meanwhile, American declined 15% from last August.
Meanwhile, 28,293,960 pounds of air cargo was processed through the airport in August – an increase of 41.25% from August 2024.
