A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN notice, recently posted on the state Department of Labor & Industry website announced the layoffs would be effective on or about March 29.
Teleflex, based in Wayne, is a medical device manufacturer that supplies products to customers throughout the world, according to its website.
According to the WARN letter issued by Teleflex to the state department, the job loss would be permanent at the Bern Township site. The action is the result of a companywide restructuring plan announced in April 2016 that includes consolidating manufacturing operations and reducing the workforce at its U.S. facilities. Teleflex will transfer most of the operations at the Bern Township site to Mexico and Czech Republic, according to the letter. The company plans to complete the restructuring plan at the Bern Township site by the end of the year. The company said it would provide affected employees with transitional support including severance payment and health care benefits.
The majority of the Bern Township employees are part of a union and Telex said it would follow the terms of the existing union contract.
The company filed the WARN notice and got it approved in November 2017.
Representatives from Teleflex did not return requests for comment.
The facility is at 2400 Bernville Road.
