One small, family-owned business plans to open its third medical marijuana dispensary early next year.
Keystone Canna Remedies, owner of the first medical marijuana dispensary to open in Pennsylvania, has a property in the Poconos that it is leasing for a dispensary that would open in the first quarter of 2020.
Patricia Gregory, a lawyer at PG&R Law Firm and one of the owners of Keystone Canna, said the Stroud Township location would be its third and final site. Keystone Canna also owns and operates a dispensary in Bethlehem that it leases and another that it owns in South Whitehall Township.
Keystone Canna submitted a building permit to the municipality for a leased property, she said. The building has one other tenant, Fastenal.
The new site is at 1523 Ninth St. across from the Pocono Commons shopping mall along Route 611 in Stroud Township that includes Home Depot and Target.
“I spent 18 months trying to find something up there,” Gregory said. “We have at least 500 patients who come down from there.”
Many patients from the Poconos come to the Bethlehem site because it’s closest, she said.
