In his current position since 2016, Fehnel began working at the 200-acre theme park in 1992 as a high school student, he told Lehigh Valley Business in a 2018 interview.
Fehnel used a sports analogy to describe his role at Dorney, which is preparing to open to the public for its 139th season. “It is a coach’s job to make the players of a team perform to the best of their ability. I believe strongly … that there is not a single one of us in the room that is smarter, stronger or more innovative than all of us working together,” he said.
He is also president of Pennsylvania Amusement Parks and Attractions, immediate past chairman of the Discover Lehigh Valley board of directors and a past board member of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. He is a board member for A Kid Again, a non-profit that serves families who are raising children living with life-threatening conditions, and a member of the Advisory Council for Cedar Crest College
