Harakal focuses on giving Whitehall Township staff the assets they need to do their jobs to create a healthier, happier and safer community. He has held his post since April 10, 2018. He also served as mayor from 1984 to 1992.
He is most proud of buying the Whitehall Parkway to stop a regional landfill and getting a bonus purchase of the Ironton Rail Trail.
A life lesson he holds dear: “Most people have a good heart. Sometimes you have to help them feel safe enough to let it shine.”
He enjoys spending time with family and friends and ensuring he is always ready to climb a mountain, paddle a canoe or walk on a new path.
