What’s your take on the local economy?

I’m pretty optimistic. Our business has been holding steady.

What’s the prime indicator for how well your business will do?

Weather. If it is nice outside, we’re selling bikes. Nothing affects us more.

What advice would you give to someone who runs a small business?

Hire a good accountant and, as soon as you can afford it, a part-time bookkeeper. Set systems in place so that the operation of your business does not revolve around you.

Don’t overbuy. Don’t use a business name you can’t own the URL for. Treat your employees and suppliers like customers and treat your customers as you would love to be treated – good customer service is rare, not very difficult and much appreciated.

Work hard but set aside time for family.
