The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Monday that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming along with fantasy contests during August was $425.39 million, an increase of 4.24% compared to revenue generated in August 2021.
Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs).
Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $175.3 million during August 2022.
August’s gross revenue from slot machines was $201.3 million, a 4.07% decrease in revenue when compared to the $209.8 million generated in August 2021.
The number of slot machines in operation in August 2022 was 25,595 compared to 26,017 at the casinos in August 2021.
Table games revenue for August 2022 was $78.5 million, a decrease of 9.11% from August 2021 when revenue was $86.3 million.
Casino games offered online generated gross revenue of $107.2 million during August 2022 compared to $88.7 million in August 2021, an increase of 20.81%.
Tax revenue generated from internet gaming play during August 2022 was $45.9 million.
August 2022 total sports wagering handle was $363 million a 4.17% increase over the August 2021 total of $348.5 million. At the same time, the taxable revenue figure for August 2022 was $33.95 million compared to $18 million in August 2021, an increase of 88.55%.
Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during August 2022 was $12.2 million.
Total adjusted revenue for August 2022 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3.7 million or 1.72% higher than August 2021 when revenue was $3.6 million. By the close of August 2022, four VGT Terminal Operators were operating the maximum permitted five machines at 66 truck stop establishments.
Tax revenue collected from the play of VGTs in August 2022 was $1.9 million.
Fantasy Contests revenue was $841,000 in August 2022, a decrease of 47.76% over August 2021, when revenue was $1.6 million.
Tax revenue collected from the play of Fantasy Contests in August 2022 was $126,163.
