Peach Music Festival returns to Montage Mountain with tribute to Allman Brothers

Christopher Holland//August 1, 2017

This year, the festival is celebrating its sixth anniversary Aug. 10-13, and the lineup is impressive.

The festival that was inspired by The Allman Brothers Band – who have since disbanded and some members have passed away – has attracted thousands of people to northeast Pennsylvania for four days and three nights of music, art, camping and so much more.

Although The Allman Brothers Band called it quits in 2014, and since then has lost two of its founding members, Butch Trucks and Gregg Allman, the festival lives on and will again cover a wide swath of the musical spectrum with its richly diverse lineup. Trucks passed away in January and Allman in May.

A special Peach tribute to Trucks and Allman is set to hit the mainstage with a stellar lineup of musicians, including musical director Chuck Leavell, Jaimoe, Oteil Burbridge, Marc Quinones, Duane Trucks, Devon Allman, Jack Pearson, Marcus King, Bruce Katz, Lamar Williams Jr., Pat Bergeson, Scott Sharrard, Pete Levin, Berry Oakley Jr., Vaylor Trucks and more.

Among other heavy hitters for this year’s event are Widspread Panic (two nights), My Morning Jacket, Gov’t Mule & Friends with John Scofield and more, Umphrey’s McGee, Joe Bonamassa, Greensky Bluegrass and Mike Gordon. The Scranton-based band and local favorite, Cabinet, will have two sets at the festival.

The festival is set around a water park, giving off a strong family vacation vibe. It’s a family friendly event for all ages, and the case of musical talent scheduled for the weekend is enough to please even the pickiest of music lovers.

While camping is a primary option for most festival goers, there are many hotels and motels near the resort to meet your accommodation needs, no matter the budget. Information on camping passes, nearby hotels and more is listed on the festival’s website.
