Pennsylvania is replacing with its own website where people can purchase health insurance that complies with the .

is scheduled to be available by Oct. 1 after state lawmakers approved its creation in 2019. It will replace the federally operated Healthcare.gov for enrollment in ACA plans for 2021.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration has said it expects the state can lower premiums by 5% to 10% for the roughly 400,000 people who have been buying policies in the Healthcare.gov marketplace.

“Through local control of our operations, outreach and customer service, we aim to simplify the purchasing process and enable shoppers to find the right plan,” said Zachary W. Sherman, Pennie executive director.

Pennsylvanians will soon be able to sign up for an account on the website. The state’s enrollment period will run from Nov. 1 through Jan. 15.

People who now have ACA plans through Healthcare.gov will receive a notification that they must switch to Pennie.

Officials will be marketing the website. They are also signing up certified brokers and assisters, and will have customer service centers to help people enroll in plans.

Enrollment events will be held in counties across the state, Pennie officials said. More information can be found at www.pennie.com.
