Philip D. Lauer
Partner/Attorney
Gross McGinley LLP
“The two primary duties of my role as a criminal defense attorney are helping my clients understand and accept what’s happening to them and working to achieve the best outcome possible for them,” said Lauer, who’s been practicing law for 53 years.
“When I started out, I contacted several established attorneys in the Lehigh Valley and told them I would happily take any work they didn’t want,” he said. “It turns out, criminal defense work was routinely passed to me, and I’ve built my career in this practice.”
Lauer cited some career milestones, including a not-guilty verdict in a death penalty case and arguing an appeal before the U.S. Supreme Court. “But I’m most proud of the daily work of helping people in miserable situations come out on the other side, able to live their lives.”
Lauer said he likes to run, hike and ride his bike, and has enjoyed adventures along the Appalachian Trail. “In general, I just love the outdoors – the feel, the freedom, the air, the contact with nature.”
