Philip M. Hof
Partner
Hof & Reed LLC
A partner in Hof & Reed, Philip Hof has been a practicing attorney since 1980.
“For more than 50 years, our late partner Norm Seidel led our firm with an expectation that we know the law, respect the law, and work as long as necessary to benefit each client,” Hof explained. “In a leadership role, my partners and I try to have a light touch. With half of our full-time support team having been with us for more than 30 years, we are blessed with unusual loyalty and competence. Each is a leader in their own role of supporting injured clients.”
He began working as a law clerk in Northampton County, “so from the start I was comfortable in the courtroom,” he said. “I entered personal injury law by receiving assignments of insurance defense work (representing those accused of negligence) for companies like Lloyd’s of London. But I found a special calling in representing the needs of one injured by the negligence of another. Their lives are upended in an instant. There is such satisfaction in helping them navigate the law and get closure.”
When he’s not working, Hof and his wife, Ellen, enjoy gatherings and games with their three kids and seven grandkids, who are within a short drive. “Our two golden retrievers, Duncan and Dover, wait and watch me for their daily run in the Palmer soccer fields. And wherever we are, I look forward to a run, leaving the cellphone behind. This summer included the Broad Street Run, with kids and grands cheering me on.”
