Mount Airy No. 1 LLC was the high bidder Thursday in the auction for the third Category 4 casino in Pennsylvania.
The Paradise Township casino and resort placed the high bid of $21.89 million. It was one of three bids received by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Its Category 4 casino will be in Lawrence County on the Ohio border.
A Category 4 license permits Mount Airy to operate 300 to 750 slot machines at the new location. It also could petition for permission to initially operate up to 30 table games for an additional fee of $2.5 million with the capability of adding an additional 10 tables games after its first year of operation.
The results of the first two Category 4 casino auctions:
• Jan. 10: Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association LLC, which operates Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Dauphin County, was the high bidder with a bid of $50.1 million for a casino in York County.
• Jan. 24: Stadium Casino LLC, which is building a casino in Philadelphia, was the high bidder with a bid of $40,100,005 for a casino in Westmoreland County.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will be auctioning seven other Category 4 casino licenses.
In related news, Pennsylvania soon will accept applications from manufacturers and suppliers of gaming terminals.
In what Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Spokesman Dough Harbach called another in a series of initial steps to implement the state’s gaming expansion plans, the board is addressing the manufacturers and suppliers of gaming machines.
The board said it will begin accepting license applications April 2 for manufacturers and suppliers relative to both interactive gaming and truck stop video gaming terminals.
Harbach noted that many of the regulations regarding the expansion are still being worked out, but the notice will give those who want to do business with the new satellite casinos or truck stops with video gaming terminals the time to make themselves aware of what is expected.
Those manufacturers and suppliers already licensed to do business with the state’s existing 12 casinos will still need to fill out an abbreviated application to be eligible for sales of interactive gaming or video gaming terminals in any newly approved locations.
The acceptance date of applications for iGaming operators, or platform providers, will be announced later.
