Users of a new grocery delivery service in the Lehigh Valley now have more options.
Instacart, which launched service in the Lehigh Valley last month, said it is now offering delivery service from PriceRite’s stores in Allentown and Bethlehem.
The San Francisco-based service has been offering delivery service from Wegmans, Costco, Petco and Whole Foods in the Lehigh Valley since July 19. It bills itself as being similar to the Uber ride service, instead offering personal shoppers to deliver groceries on demand.
PriceRite stores offer fresh produce, natural and organic products and a variety of private label and national grocery brands.
Matt Tutelman, senior associate of new markets for Instacart, said the advantage to having more retail options is that customers can buy items from multiple locations for the same order.
For example, an order could contain items from PriceRite and Petco and both would arrive in the same order. The order might be delivered by different drivers, but all items would be covered under the $5.99 delivery fee per order that Instacart charges.
“The Instacart partnership allows us to deliver the PriceRite experience with the added ability to bring groceries straight to our customers’ doorstep,” said Neil Duffy, president of PriceRite Supermarkets, in a news release.
