A shopping center along a busy corridor in South Whitehall Township is getting a makeover as a Berks County developer continues its $9 million redevelopment efforts.
King’s Management and Development Co. in Windsor Township is redeveloping Cedar Point West Shopping Center at Cedar Crest and Hamilton Boulevard.
Wawa will build a gas station/convenience store on the northern corner of the property at Cedar Crest Boulevard and the Route 222 Bypass.
“We have demolished the Wendy’s building in order to move the current Wendy’s building,” said Jay King, president and CEO. “Wendy’s has been successful there for the past 15 years.”
Wendy’s is moving to a new space to make room for Wawa, he added.
Aside from Wendy’s, the center at 480 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. contains Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Office Depot.
Also, developers are negotiating with a major tenant and expect to have a signed lease in about 10 days, King said.
