The Transportation Security Authority will hold an event Oct. 2-6 and Oct. 9-13 at LVIA in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, to identify low-risk air travelers who would be permitted to skip certain time-consuming security measures.
If approved, a traveler would not have to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts and light jackets.
Applicants must first visit www.identigo.com/prescheck or www.tsa.gov/precheck to apply and schedule an appointment. The program costs a nonrefundable $85 fee and is valid for five years.
The screening includes a 10-minute in-person appointment that includes a background check and fingerprinting.
More than 4,600 people have registered for pre-screening at LVIA since the airport began holding pre-check screenings in December.
More than 4 million people overall are members of the program.
In July, 96 percent of pre-check passengers waited five minutes or less, according to the TSA.
The TSA Pre-Check Open Enrollment event at LVIA will be held in the Aviator Room in the main terminal, level two.
Event hours: 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m., Oct. 2-6 and Oct. 9-13.
