Shapiro Administration invests over $16M to boost Pa. economy

The is investing more than $16 million to help boost ‘s .

announced 148 new project approvals through the in grants and loans. The funding awards will support various programs, including , , , and , as well as plugging abandoned wells, sewage facilities improvements, and restoring watersheds.

“These significant investments are creating safe and healthy communities, and delivering real results for Pennsylvanians,” Siger said in a statement.

Projects have been approved for the following:

  • Sewer Facilities Program, which provides funding for statewide initiatives for complying the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act.
  • Abandoned Mine Drainage Abatement and Treatment program, which provides funding for abandoned mine drainage, abatement, and treatment.
  • Baseline Water Quality Data Program, which funds initiatives to establish baseline water quality data on private water supplies; Flood Mitigation Program providing funding for initiatives to assist with flood mitigation projects.
  • The Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program for the planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks and beautification projects.
  • Orphan or Abandoned Well Plugging Program, which funds orphan or abandoned well plugging projects.
  • Watershed Restoration Protection Program, which funds watershed restoration and protection projects.

“From funding flood mitigation projects, rehabbing our recreational trails, plugging abandoned wells and restoring watersheds, these are projects that will enhance our community and economy while improving the quality of life for Pennsylvanians,” said Siger.
