As shopping malls continue to evolve, the Lehigh Valley will soon find a Giant supermarket at the site of the former Bon-Ton department store at the South Mall in Salisbury Township.
The Giant company said the new store at 3300 Lehigh Street will officially open Nov. 21.
The 68,000-square-foot store, which also has an on-site fuel station, was built to replace the existing store at 3015 W. Emmaus Avenue.
That store will officially close Nov. 20.
The new store will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
“At GIANT, exceeding the expectations of our loyal customers is at the forefront of everything we do, and it starts with accommodating their changing grocery needs,” said John Ruane, president of the Giant Company. “Our new store in Salisbury Township is bigger and offers a wider product assortment that enhances the overall shopping experience for our customers.”
Shoppers at the closing store will find familiar faces at the new location. Mike Ramos, an 18-year grocery veteran, will continue serving as store manager. Team members and community leaders will gather for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 21.
Ramos said customers will also see many familiar team members from the West Emmaus Avenue store as well as some new faces as the store adds more than 75 new full- and part-time jobs.
