Small businesses throughout Pennsylvania looking to start or expand their companies now can find the information they need in a new online resource developed by the state Department of Community & Economic Development.
Dennis Davin, secretary of the DCED, hosted a media call Wednesday morning to announce the launch of PA Business One-Stop Shop, a resource that guides entrepreneurs and small-business owners through planning and startup to operation and expansion.
“We think this initiative will transform the way they do business in Pennsylvania,” Davin said. “When you look at the numbers, about 96 percent of all businesses in Pennsylvania are small businesses.”
Davin described the website as a single, go-to resource for anyone moving a business to Pennsylvania, starting a business or expanding one.
“It eliminates the guesswork of many procedures that might be confusing,” he said.
The site offers short, quick-start guides that help business owners find what they need, including everything from writing a business plan to choosing a structure and finding business experts and state funding resources.
The team of consultants collaborating on this initiative comes from across state government and include experts from the departments of Revenue, Labor & Industry and State and the Office of Administration, Davin said.
“We travel the state and meet with businesses and we look for ways to make their jobs easier,” he said. “We put this together in a very short amount of time, and we think this is going to be a tremendous resource. This is something that has been needed for many, many years.”
Aside from the website, www.business.pa.gov, PA Business One-Stop Shop also has a phone number (833-722-6778) that business owners can call to access the team of experts.
