The fourth president of Bucks County Community College in the college’s 50-year history, Shanblatt joined Oct. 1, 2012.
Shanblatt served for 13 years in leadership roles at Lansing Community College in Michigan, the last three as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. Before that, she spent several years conducting molecular biological research at Michigan State University; she has published her research findings in several journals.
Shanblatt serves on the Bucks County Workforce Development Board and the Board of Directors of the Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership. She earned her Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine and her B.S. in chemistry from the same university.
Shanblatt announced that she is retiring June 30. In a final video, she shared: “Bucks is an amazing place. Regardless of who the president is or will be, what makes Bucks amazing is the faculty and staff. There is a true and strong dedication to ensure that students are successful and meet their educational goals. It’s a beautiful college – all three campuses have their own special beauty and personality – and a great place to learn.”
