Pennsylvania collected $4 billion in General Fund Revenue in December 2022, which was $319.9 million more than anticipated, Gov. Tom Wolf and the Department of Revenue announced Tuesday. 

It has been described by some as the “Bank of Mom and Pop,” the “Family Bank” by others. It’s an intra-family loan, and like the 1966 Clint Eastwood Western, it can be a case of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. “It’s a strategy we’ve used for our clients,” said Joseph Marmorato, CPA, and Manager of Tax Planning for Domani Wealth, which has offices in Lancaster, Hanover, York, and Wyomissing.

Approximately $8.5 million in earned wages have been returned to Pennsylvania workers by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) following investigations of more than 4,500 complaints of alleged labor law violations.

Workforce development projects across Pennsylvania are receiving $5.5 million in Industry Partnership Grant funding aimed at meeting local and regional workforce needs. The announcement was made Wednesday by Gov. Tom Wolf.  Lehigh Valley and Central Pennsylvania projects will receive approximately $2 million combined funds in grants. 

Career Technical Centers in the Lehigh Valley and Central Pennsylvania are among the 33 CTCs and two school districts to receive competitive grants to purchase new equipment aligned to training students in high-demand occupations.

Since 2015, more than $4.5 billion has been spent with Pennsylvania’s small, diverse, and veteran businesses through state contracts. For two years in a row, Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration has set records for contract spending with these businesses, including $995 million in Fiscal Year 2021.
