In an effort to bolster last minute holiday shopping and outings, the Christmas City is making it a little bit easier to park in its business districts.

Attorney Matthew Sorrentino has officially been named president and CEO of Health Network Laboratories of Hanover Township, Lehigh County.

A groundbreaking for a new LVHN hospital campus in Lower Nazareth Township will take place on Dec. 6, according to information shared at the LVHN 2019 Community Annual Meeting. The hospital will be located along Hecktown Road, off of Route 33 and include a 106,000-square-foot, two-story hospital; 35,000-square-foot Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute and 61,000-square-foot medical office building. 

The Federal Trade Commission and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office said they have completed their antitrust reviews of Lehigh Valley Health Network’s proposal to acquire the assets of Coordinated Health, allowing the transaction to move forward.

The last steel beam has been placed on Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest’s expanded emergency department in Salisbury Township. Lehigh Valley Health Network employees signed the beam before a crane slowly lifted it into place. The expanded facility will include an adult emergency room, opening in late 2020 and a children’s ER, opening in mid-2021.

The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization focused on improving hospital safety, released their biannual safety ratings of the nation’s hospitals Nov. 7. The majority of area hospitals received A grades, while a few earned B, C, and even D ratings.

Lehigh Valley Health Network has opened the health network’s second Carbon County  ExpressCARE, a walk-in urgent care clinic, in Palmerton.

With it being the first ever United Way Day of Caring in Carbon County, it was a pretty big deal and volunteers were excited to get started on four community service projects in the region.
