The 2021 Oil and Gas Annual Report released today by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) shows that production and compliance inspections increased in 2021. Pennsylvania continues to be the second largest producer of natural gas in the nation, behind Texas.

As its purchased gas cost rates will increase on December 1, 2022, UGI Utilities, Inc. announced the average residential heating customer’s bill in Pennsylvania will increase by 3.1%. The result is an increase in the average monthly heating bill from $199.54 to $123.28.

Department of Community and Economic Development Acting Secretary Neil Weaver Tuesday announced a new Pipeline Investment Program project approval through the Commonwealth Financing Authority that will increase natural gas capacity at the Smithfield Gateway Center in Monroe County. 

PennEast Pipeline announced it will end development of its proposed 120-mile long pipeline from Pennsylvania to New Jersey after it was unable to receive the permits needed for the project.

UGI Corp. Utilities Inc. and UGI Energy Services LLC have joined the Natural Gas Supply Collaborative, bringing the number of companies in the group to 17.
