The Lehigh Valley’s largest seasonal employer is getting ready to hire for its 2020 season.
Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in South Whitehall Township said it is looking to hire more than 3,000 seasonal workers for this year. Tana Korpics, manager of public relations for Dorney, said that is the hiring level the park has been at for about the past two years.
Dorney will hold a job fair Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for returning and new applicants to learn more or get on-the-spot interviews.
The amusement park is looking mostly for individuals over the age of 16, but said it does have a limited number of positions for workers as young as 14. Adults are also encouraged to apply.
Korpics said there is a particular need for adults looking for a second, or part-time job, because they are often more available in spring and fall when younger workers are often in school.
Even with low unemployment the park doesn’t have trouble filling the roughly 3,000 vacancies, but staffing those early and late days of their season can be tough, she said. That’s why the park implemented a flexible-hours program last year.
“It’s for someone who’s looking to supplement their income. They can tell us when they want to work or when they’re available and we’ll schedule around that,” Korpics said.
She said the system was a big help, last season, in keeping the park staffed during off-times.
Positions are available in food and beverage, admissions, aquatics, safety and security, games and merchandise, finance, maintenance and warehouse and entertainment.
There will be more hiring events as the season approaches.
The park will be opening May 1 in what will be its 137th operating season.
