Another major step in the development of the $70 million mixed use project in Easton to be known as the Marquis.

Easton City Council has approved the sale of the parking deck at Pine and Third streets for $3 million to City Center Investment Corp., the developer behind much of the new construction in downtown Allentown.

The deck will be demolished, and the 400,000-square-foot Marquis project will take its place.

City Ceneter President J.B. Reilly said the building would be similar to the 10 residential buildings his company has developed and leased in downtown Allentown over the past six years.

The building would consist of seven floors and 274 units, making it the largest apartment project in Easton’s history. The Marquis would offer 59 studios, 115 one-bedroom apartments, and 95 two-bedroom apartments, as well as five live-work units along Ferry Street.

The building would feature first-floor retail along Third Street, a green roof and a 302-space parking deck for use by both residents and the community.

Once the parking deck is demolished, construction on the Marquis project is expected to take about 17 months.
